Family Room from the HGTV 2009 Dream Home
Hello and Happy NEW YEAR my dearest budget decorators!
Is anyone else having a small attack because today is the 13th day of the brand new year?!?!? I can’t believe it. 13 days in and I still don’t have my goals for the year figured out yet.
However… I just wandered over to visit Melissa of the Inspired Room… and, as usual, was very inspired by her post “Balancing Act: Finding a Beautiful Life.” If you’re looking for inspiration to move your new year in the right direction, you definitely need to go read it. And, even if you’re not, you should got take a look anyway because she did the most courageous thing EVER for someone who has a design/decorating oriented blog… she posted pictures of her new home the way it is right this minute before she’s all moved in and beautified! No staging, just normal “we just moved in and things aren’t put away yet” photos. And that is just on of the reasons Melissa is my hero… in one simple post, she reminded me that it’s okay if my home (and my life) is a work-in-progress. And that it’s okay to focus on the step that’s right in front of you because what REALLY matter is that you’re taking a step forward as often as you can, however you can.
I love Melissa… she’s such a wise woman! And I can’t wait to see how her new home evolves over time.
So go visit her and get inspired to find YOUR beautiful life.
xoxo - Shauntelle
P.S. A couple of decorating things I almost forgot to mention:
- If you’re in the Atlanta area and looking for something unusual and eye catching for your home, you have to visit Pieces on Roswell Road in Buckhead. I’ll tell you upfront, it’s not necessarily “budget” friendly but they have some seriously awesome pieces that you won’t find anywhere else. AND for a short time, anyone who mentions that you heard of them through the A Beautiful Abode blog, will receive 30% off! YAY!!! (I love that my readers get offered discounts… and no, I don’t get a kick back or anything!)
- Ethan Allen has a cool new website that you oughta go check out. My favorite thing is their style quiz but they also have a neat little program that lets you play designer and create your own design boards. Ethan Allen may not be “budget” friendly but you can always use the inspiration to help you with your craigslist hunting!
