Inspiration Friday: A Pretty Frock Inspired Room

Browsing Pinterest this morning, I fell in love with this dress:

Beautiful Frock

I’ve spent the day daydreaming about reasons to own this dress, places to wear this dress… and, of course inevitably, rooms to wear this dress in!!!  lol

I thought it would be fun to share the two rooms I dreamed up inspired by this dress.  First the high dollar room:

Forget the Budget, Bring on the Luxury
Forget the Budget, Bring on the Luxury

1. silk taffeta fabric for drapery 2. “Francesca” Horchow sofa

3. silk pillow etsy 4. mirrored “Sable” Horchow coffee table 5. Horchow “French Bead” chandelier

Total Cost:  $7035.00 (approximately)

And the budget friendly version:

1. craigslist vintage 60’s sofa – $450   2. krylon glass spray paint 3. craigslist coffee table – $40

4. curtain fabric 5. wooden beads    6. pillow fabric #1 7. pillow fabric #2

8. krylon oil rubbed bronze 9. craigslist chandelier – $15

Total Cost:  $728.00  (approximately)

This includes a few DIY projects:

  • I’d use Krylon looking glass spray paint to make the coffee table glass top resemble mercury glass
  • I’d paint the base of the coffee table with Krylon oil rubbed bronze to make it pop more
  • I’d use beads and some antique gold craft paint with the chandelier to recreate the “French Bead” chandelier
  • I’d make pillows and some simple (but full) curtains with the fabric selected

The result = luxurious and budget friendly living room  🙂

’til next time, happy budget decorating!
